Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the perception of the counselors¡¯ and parents' help experience in parental counseling when conducted only with parents without direct child intervention.
Methods: For this purpose, this study examined the perception of parental counseling help experience conducted only with parents without direct child intervention using a concept mapping research method for 15 counselors and 12 parents.
Results: Two dimensions of recognition of parental counseling help experience, six clusters of counselors, and three clusters of parents were derived as a result of multidimensional scaling (MDS) and cluster analysis.
Conclusions: Through this concept mapping study, it was found that the help experience that both counselors and parents perceive in parental counseling conducted only with parents without direct child intervention represents the growth and change of parents participating in counseling. In addition, even if children cannot directly intervene because they cannot participate in counseling, it was found that positive changes occurred not only in children but also in family relations through parents' self-understanding and internal growth.
